Running around in Janelle Vivian’s Volkswagen and our friendship, choir, dates, my first boyfriend, getting into Sandy Glaspey’s Corvair convertible and heading to the mountains for Senior Ditch Day.
Pam Yeager, Nancy Wilson, Debbie Saviers and I “borrowed” Nancy’s mother’s car for a Saturday afternoon neighborhood cruise before we had our licenses. I’ll never forget Nancy’s mother driving up beside me when I was in the driver’s seat! I have other fond memories of football games at South High Stadium, Astronaut’s and Moonraker’s dances, good friends and good times in the glorious 60’s!

“The Music Man”
Pep Club
I was in Miss Pomeranz English Lit. Class and she being about 4 ft. high (in heels) would climb up on her chair and stand in the middle of her desk. She then proceeded to stamp her foot and tell everyone to be quiet. It worked every time!
Graduation Day
Kirk Norlin sneaking that little red sports car into the school lobby.
Basketball games at the Auditorium Arena, marking the grades Mr. Santi and then going to lunch and building snow sculptures.
The day I finally learned how to open my @*!# locker.

Fifteen cent Henry’s hamburgers and drive-ins
Fun times and no worries.
Working nights at Cherry Point Standard Gas Station.
Winning awards for my art and cheering for some fabulous athletes. Least favorite memory—being called “stilts.”
All those many wonderful nights with the gang on Peggy Kerr’s front porch.
The night we won the State Basketball Championship (1967) I took one of the Pom Pom Girls to a party. On the way there, Kevin Shanahan decided to see if his Pontiac Tempest would out-run my Sting-Ray. He was sitting at the stop light at S. Colorado Blvd. and Yale when I passed him. (The light turned green as I approached the intersection.) As we cruised along in 4th gear at 35 MPH, I heard him winding is Pontiac up as he came after us. I told my passenger that things might move a bit faster soon and waited until he got even with my rear bumper, then dropped into 3rd gear and went out of sight over the top of the hill by the club house at the Wellshire Golf Course. He never gained another inch. The other is May 24, 1967, the day I got my Private Pilot’s License.
Trips to Deckers. Fun times with Gary, Steve and Warren. JV Football.

A candle,
A poem,
A grateful teacher,
A naïve mistake,
An unspoken fondness,
And so many favorites unsaid.
Painting the parking lot with polka dots.
The day after graduating and knowing I would never have to go back.
Split session was great. Getting out at noon and heading to Winter Park for an afternoon of skiing for $3.00.
Christmas time 1965-66—I was in drama class and the teacher would not let us have a Jewish play. There were 25-50 people that were Jewish. Anyway—we decided to get even with him (the teacher). The Christmas play was on and the teacher was going to be an angel and come down from the balcony on a wire and land on stage. When it was his time we turned off the lights and closed the curtains and he crashed into the curtains. We walked out and came back after Christmas break. Boy, did we get in trouble for that. I would do it again!
The dances at the DU Student Union, White Sands Swim Club, Rich Burgers and charbroiled hamburgers at Cherry Creek.
Lot’s of good memories—Taking state in basketball, picnics in the mountains, dances, Dingle and the Berries, dates with Dudley (even though I had to drive some of the time), and pep rallys.
High School drama—“Helen Keller” and ski club.
-Power outages that only happened at the end of PE class and then waiting in the dark with just a towel, not wanting to know who bumped into you
-The day half the school was evacuated because someone in Miss Ilgaudas’ class mixed nitro glycerin
-When Cliff Arbuckle covered his head with his arms during touch football. I thought he lost the ball in the sun, but while running a passing route he turned in time to see a dump truck lose its parking brake, rolling backward yet again just below Miss Ilgaudas’ classroom windows. Naïve questions and Mr. Freerksen’s shocking euphemisms in the class politely referred to as “Boys Social Problems.”
Being a cheerleader for our school.
Lots of memories revolving around friends, Concert Choir, folk singing, plays and skiing.

Hanging out and working at Teddy’s Drive In with Mikki Weiss and friends. Making sauces for sundaes—first job due to split session. Hoping to see old friend that I haven’t seen for years. Making clothes with Mrs. New. She was always so hopeful and positive.
